Counselling for Children and Young People

I am passionate about early intervention and the positive and empowering role that counselling can have in supporting children, young people and their families.

I have worked as a school counsellor in both primary and secondary school settings for over 12 years and I have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people through the medium of play, creative materials, talking and solution focused hypnotherapy.

I have trained with Eli Lebowitz from Yale Child Study Centre on the SPACE Programme – Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions. This requires working with the parent(s) instead of the child, young person, or young adult to achieve successful results in eliminating debilitating anxious childhood behaviours.

Some of the issues I have helped children and young people are:

Anger

Anxiety

Bereavement & Loss

Behavioural Issues

Bullying

Parental Separation & Divorce

Friendship Issues

Relationships

Self-harm

Transitions (incl. between schools)
